The Sun Blade X6240 Server Module provides 16 DIMM slots (up to 2x the competition) and supports large memory configurations using 2 GB, 4 GB or 8GB DIMMs (all running at 667MHz).

- Two high performance Six-Core or enhanced Quad-Core AMD Opteron Processors
- Over 1 Terabyte (TB) of externally accessible, hot plug storage
- Four PCI Express, four SAS, and two 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet interfaces per server module via passive midplane
- Up to 128 GB of main memory using power efficient 8 GB DIMMs
- Support for Flash Solid State Drives to accelerate application response time and reduce energy consumption
